Biography

KANNIKA weaves together Nordic folk music with cinematic soundscapes and a voice that carries both vulnerability and strength.

Raised in the beech forests of Österlen, KANNIKA grew up with Leonard Cohen and Fleetwood Mac drifting from her parents’ record player. Her childhood was idyllic yet tumultuous. School days were marred by cruelty, but she found refuge on horseback and with music in her headphones.

In her twenties, she moved to Los Angeles to chase her dream. But after a devastating vocal injury, she returned home — to stillness, grief, and the long silence of healing. Out of that silence came Hel igen — a song,
a mantra, and a quiet rebirth.

Drawing on the ethereal worlds of Sigur Rós, Stevie Nicks, and age-old folk tales, KANNIKA blends Nordic folk with shadowy cinematic pop and crafts a haunting yet captivating sonic realm.

Her upcoming debut single Hel igen, out May 27th, is a vivid and heartfelt track about standing in ruins while still reaching for hope —a mantra for those longing to become whole.
